ILLUSTRIOUS LLOYD ERNEST SMITH, 33°
Illustrious Lloyd E. Smith, 33° passed away in Florida on July 21, 2021. Lloyd was born on October 29, 1930. Lloyd served in the United States Navy, 1848-1952. He was the retired president of Smith’s Fire Equipment, Inc.
Lloyd was a 67-year member of Saggahew Lodge. He was a member of Merrimack Valley Lodge of Perfection and Zion Council Princes of Jerusalem, Mount Calvary Chapter of Rose Croix, and Massachusetts Consistory. He was TPM of Merrimack Valley Lodge of Perfection in 1966-67 and in 1974 and SP of Merrimack Valley Council, P of J in 1985-1987.
Lloyd was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33°, on September 30, 1970 and was the senior SGIG on the Massachusetts roster. Lloyd was Deputy’s Representative to the Valley of Haverhill in 1996-1999. He was a member of the organizing committee of the Valley of the Merrimack in 2002-2003. A memorial service was held on September 2, at the Walnut Cemetery, Haverhill.
Brother Frederick Rudolph Kuehn , 32° (1925-2021)
Brother Frederick R. Kuehn, age 95, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021 due to complications of Covid-19.
Fred was born in Lawrence, Mass. on February 22, 1925, the son of Rudolph C. and Meta A. (Greggerson) Kuehn. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1942 and was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the 289th Engineer Combat Battalion in Europe. He participated in the Ardennes/Alsace, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns attaining the rank of Sergeant. After the war he graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Business Administration and eventually went on to work at the Raytheon Company as a Data Processing Specialist. He retired in 1989 after nearly 30 years of service.
Fred was a Mason and member of Lawrence United Lodge, John Hancock Lodge, Merrimack Valley Fellowship, and the Scottish Rite Valley of the Merrimack. In his youth, he was a Boy Scout of Troop 2, Lawrence and the Turn Verein.
He was a member of the former Christ Presbyterian Church and the former The United Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and trustee and was treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Men's Fellowship. Later in life he attended The Christian Fellowship Church.
Fred was funny, loving and kind. He will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 69 years who adored him, Muriel H. Goller; son, Jeffrey and his fiancée, Phuong Tran; daughter, Krista Bajor and her husband, Peter; grandchildren: Sarah Oldfield and her husband, Brad; Eric Bajor and his wife, Brittany; and Jeffrey Bajor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by his sister, Marion Hatton.
Services and burial will be private.

Illustrious Frank W. Kenrick, 33°, MSA (1939 - 2020)
Illustrious Frank W. Kenrick, 33°, MSA died at his home in North Reading on Friday, November 20, 2020.
Born in Everett on February 10, 1939, Frank was the son of the late Edwin M. and Hazel A. (Fraser) Kenrick. He attended the L.D. Batchelder School in North Reading and graduated from the Malden Vocational High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1959.
Frank was a sheet metal worker; he started his own business in 1962, the Kenrick B. Hall Corporation. He worked on numerous buildings throughout New England and installed heating and air condition systems in malls and industrial buildings.
Frank was a witty man, full of wisdom, stories, laughs and love. He had a heart of gold, always willing to help when he could.
Frank resided in North Reading for over 60 years. He was a dedicated member of Union Congregational Church that town. He was a member of North Reading Lodge A.F. & A.M. and served as its Master in 1991. He was active in the York Rite. In Scottish Rite he was a member of the Valleys of Lowell and Boston and was a Past Sovereign Prince of Lowell Council Princes of Jerusalem . He was an active degree worker and was always willing to lend a hand to the Valley of the Merrimack when his talents were needed. He was particularly known for his splendid portrayal of the part of Abazar in the Fifteenth Degree. He received the Meritorious Service Award several years ago and was elected to receive the Thirty-Third Degree in Cleveland in August 2021.
His surviving family members include his loving wife, Andrea E. (Powell) Kenrick; daughters, Farika S. Williams and De Andrea D. Gibbs of North Reading. Son-in-law, Dominic Williams of North Reading. Adoptive daughter, Carline Gabert of Malden. His loving nieces, Susan Kenrick of Natick and Sannett Petrus of Haverhill. Life long friend of over 40 years, Jack and wife Jane Hodges of North Reading. Also survived by a host of extended family and friends. He was the father of the late Frank, Jr. and Glen Kenrick.
His funeral will be held at the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill Street, North Reading on Wednesday, November 25 at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Tuesday, November 24 from 4 to 7 PM. Due to current restrictions, masks must be worn at all times with social distancing. A maximum capacity of 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time. BROTHER RICHARD G. CATTEAU, 32°, MSA (1931 - 2020)
Brother Richard G. Catteau, 32°, MSA , of Methuen, Mass., passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, June 22, 2020. He was 89 years old. He was the son of Remy and Marion (Hobbs) Catteau.
Born in Methuen, June 20, 1931 and raised there, Dick was a graduate of E.F. Searles High School, class of 1949. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1956. He was the Superintendent of Attendance in the Methuen Public Schools for eighteen years and retired in 1986. He was also the co-owner of Methuen Monumental Co. for many years.
Dick was a member of John Hancock Lodge AF&AM and a recipient of the 50-year veterans medal. He belonged to the Valley of Lawrence, the Valley of the Merrimack and other Scottish Rite bodies of Massachusetts and received the Meritorious Service Award on June 18, 2001. He was also a member of Royal Arch and Council of York Rite, and was a 40-plus-year Shriner in Bektash Temple.
Dick was always active in the church. Throughout his years, he was a member of Forest Street Union Church in Methuen, Windham Presbyterian Church in Windham, NH, Oakland Sidney United Methodist Church in Oakland, ME, and was a current member of Christian Fellowship Church of Merrimack Valley in Methuen.
An avid sportsman, Dick hunted and fished all of his life. He and his wife Carole were an adventurous couple and enjoyed hobbies like snowmobiling, mopedding, cross-country skiing, taking cruises, dancing, playing 45s, boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, and spending their special season in Clearwater Beach, FL.
Dick was predeceased by his wife, of fifty-seven years, Carole E. (Wilson) Catteau, who passed in 2018; his parents; son, Richard G. Catteau, Jr.; and his brother, Ronald Catteau.
He will be missed by his daughters, Cathy Lee, and husband, James of NH, Roanne Colizzi and husband, David, of NH; Lynne Poublon, and husband, John, of NY; Candace Colizzi, and husband, Michael, of NH; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, June 28, 2020 (which happens to be his wife, Carole's, birthday) from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Funeral services will be held following visiting hours at 5:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.

Brother John Badger Leitch, 32° (May 26, 1921 – September 26, 2019)
Brother John Badger Leitch, 32°, a Senior Member of the Valley of the Merrimack, died in Laconia, N.H. on September 26, 2019.
John was born May 26, 1921 in Northern Arm, Newfoundland, with a twin sister, Ruth. Adopted by Harold and Gertrude Leitch in 1922, he spent his early childhood years in Franklin, N.H., later moving to Andover, Mass., where he lived most of his life until retirement. John graduated from Lowell Technical Institute and received a Master’s degree in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Dorothy Christie in 1943, and they raised four boys, Douglas, John, Peter, and David. John worked at Western Electric, where he was an engineer for over 25 years.
Brother Leitch was a 70 year member of St. Matthew’s Lodge, Andover, and served as its Master in 1955-1956. He was a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Lawrence Eleventh Masonic District. In Scottish Rite he was initiated in Lawrence Lodge of Perfection on January 19, 1950. He served as Sovereign Prince of Zion Council, Princes of Jerusalem in 1978-1979. He was active in his church community for many years.
He loved playing cards, golf, doing crossword puzzles, and used to thrill his grandchildren with his model trains that he spent many hours constructing in his basement. The most important thing in John’s life was his family. He spent many summers at his family’s lake house in Tilton, NH. The house became a favorite destination for his boys and then their families. He and Dot loved the Lakes Region so much that they retired to Laconia, where they would both spend the rest of their lives, eventually moving to Taylor Community. The lake house allowed his family to spend time with them and with each other. Many summer afternoons and evenings were spent with extended family members at the large dining room table for dinners, birthdays, weddings, and numerous other celebrations.
John is survived by his sons Jack, Peter, and Dave; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and son Doug, as well as his second wife, Charlotte, and his twin sister, Ruth. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H using the Carriage House entrance. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm also at the Funeral Home. A private burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery in Gilford. Bro. Charles Russell Bacon, 32° January 19, 1951 - May 24, 2019
Anderson, S.C. - Charles Russell Bacon, 68, of Anderson, S.C., passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Groveland, Mass., he was the son of the late Charles A. and Mary E. Bacon and the husband to the late Donna Bacon, whom he loved very much. He was a machinist. He served as Mastor of Charles C. Dame Lodge, Georgetown, in 1986 and 1991. He was also a Shriners International volunteer.
Bro. Arthur Hale Veasey, Jr., 32° November 7, 1922 - December 26, 2018
Haverhill - Arthur Hale Veasey Jr., a life-long resident of Haverhill, and summer resident of Squirrel Island, Maine, died December 26, 2018, at High Pointe House in Haverhill.
Born November 7, 1922, the son of Decia Beebe and Arthur H. Veasey, he was a graduate of the class of 1944 at Phillips Academy, and pursued his higher education at Kenyon College before enlisting in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
Mr. Veasey began a globetrotting career with United Shoe Machinery Corp. in 1947 eventually assuming the position of General Manager of the Pan American Division where he oversaw company operations throughout Latin America. Locally, he was a longtime Director of the Merrimack Valley National Bank. He was a Freemason and member of Merrimack Lodge F. & A.M. and he was a member of all Scottish Rite bodies and all York Rite bodies.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Natalie Futrell. He is survived by his loving family, which includes his daughter, Leslie Veasey Schade and her husband F. Tucker of Blue Bell, Pa.; son, Arthur Hale Veasey III and his wife Susan of West Newbury; and son, Robert Anderson Veasey of Chicago. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sylenda Schade Graf (Tom), Stephanie Schade Thibodeau (Ray), F. Tucker Schade, Jr. (Beth), Helen Veasey Murphy (Owen), and Robert Arthur Veasey; as well as three great-grandsons, William Hale Thibodeau, Jackson Charles Graf, and Nicholas Schade Graf.

Brother William P. Haddad, 32° June 12, 1948 -- May 24, 2018
North Andover - William P. Haddad, 69, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018, surrounded by his family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. William was known to his closest childhood friends as “Red,” his parents and sister as “Billy,” and his adult friends and colleagues as “Bill.” He was born in Lawrence and grew up in a big Italian-Lebanese family in the Prospect Hill neighborhood. He could be spotted a mile away thanks to his bright red hair and 6’6” height. He was the oldest of two children to the late William and Florence (Iucolano) Haddad.
Bill graduated from Lawrence High School in 1965 and Northeastern University in 1980. From a young age, he was mature beyond his years, hardworking, and ambitious. He pursued a career in corporate accounting for many years before starting his own business, the Haddad Financial Group based in Newburyport. During Bill’s 45-year career, he proudly served thousands of clients. He loved being an entrepreneur and a small business owner.
In the summer of 1970, Bill met Elaine Zaccari, “a nice Italian girl” as he would say, through a mutual friend at Salisbury Beach, and she quickly became the love of his life. Bill and Elaine were married in 1972 at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen. They lived in Salem, N.H., for ten years before moving to North Andover in 1984 where they raised two daughters, Julie and Alyssa. Despite his busy tax season, Bill never missed a gymnastics meet or tennis match. He coached North Andover travel team soccer, and loved to treat his girls to Tripoli Pizza and the famous crispellis at the annual Italian Feast in Lawrence. Vacations in Disney World became a Haddad tradition every summer and Bill always insisted on visiting the country “Canada” at Epcot Center.
He walked both his daughters down the aisle – and even surprised his family with a wild father-daughter dance to “I Want to Dance” from Pulp Fiction at his eldest daughter Julie’s wedding. Bill and his wife loved to travel, especially with their favorite group of couple friends. Together, they took many trips to Italy (Bill’s favorite) as well as France, Switzerland, and California wine country.
Bill was blessed with four grandchildren, three boys and a girl. An avid golfer and tennis player, Bill could not wait for the day his eldest grandson was old enough to join “Grampy” on the golf course, at age five. Bill eventually taught all his grandchildren how to play golf and he loved bringing them on family vacations to Disney World.
Bill was a member of Atkinson Country Club and the Haverhill Masonic Lodge. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Dyslexia Center in Woburn. He was impressed by the Dyslexia Center’s incredible work and believed strongly in their mission.
Here to honor his legacy is his beloved wife, Elaine (Zaccari) Haddad; his cherished daughters, Julie Cullen and her husband David of Burlington, Mass., and Alyssa Haddad and her husband, Jonathan Spongberg of Stratford, Conn.; dear sister, Pauline DiTommaso and her husband David of Methuen; Bill’s treasured grandchildren, Thomas and Shane Cullen, and William and Taylor Spongberg; and many close family, friends, and neighbors.

Brother James Edward Bradley, 32° august 1, 1924 -- april 10, 2018
Brother James Edward Bradley, 32° passed away in Haverhill on April, 10, 2018. He was 93.
Born in Lawrence on August 1, 1924 Jim was the son of Hugh and Lillian (Cormier) Bradley. He was educated in the Haverhill public schools and in 1943 graduated early from the Haverhill Trade School and enlisted in the U. S. Navy.
During World War II he served in the 69th Construction Battalion “Seabees”. He served in the European Theater of Operation until the surrender of Germany, then sailed through the Panama Canal and served in the Pacific Theater of Operation until the surrender of Japan. He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
Jim was appointed to the Haverhill Fire Department where he served his community for 32 years. During that time, he also joined the Saggahew Lodge of Masons where he was a member for more than 55 years, and served as Master of the Lodge in 1992 . He was also a member of Haverhill Commandery and the York Rite Bodies, as well as Valley of the Merrimack, Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a proud member of Aleppo Shriners of Boston where he sang with the Aleppo Chanters. Following his retirement from the the H.F.D., he worked as a machinist at Aris Engineering in Ward Hill.
Jim was a member of the former First Congregational Church in Haverhill where he and Nadine worshipped, and he sang in the choir and participated in various ministries of the church. More recently, he was a member of the Groveland Congregational Church where he also sang in the the choir for a number of years.
Jim celebrated 56 years of marriage with his wife, Nadine (McLaughlin) Bradley. Also among his survivors are daughters, Cynthia Stevens Senical and her husband David of Winooski, VT, Denise Stevens Wolf and her husband Richard of Worcester, Suzanne Bradley Torrisi and her husband John of Haverhill, and son, David Bradley and his wife Anne of Lawrence; grandchildren, Michael Bradley of Haverhill, Kevin Senical of FL, Kristin Quiet and her husband Justin of VT, Stephanie Gaudette and her husband T.C. of Worcester, Jonathan Wolf of NH, Kalya Torrisi of Amesbury, Patrick Bradley and his girlfriend Kelly Fawcett of Bradford, and Elizabeth Bradley of Lawrence; his great-grandchildren, Ian, Grace, Kaelie, Vivienne, Sophie and Maeve, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended members of his family. He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Bradley Genna, his great-granddaughter, Sabine Lillian Gaudette and his siblings, Elaine Fitzgerald, H. Paul, Freddy and William Bradley, and his Goddaughter, Sr. Paula Bradley, S.C.O.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Brother John Robert Hay 32°
Brother John Robert Hay, 32° passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his camp on Little Island Pond. He was 85.
Born in Methuen, he was the son of James and Molly (Coombs) Hay. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Arlene (Goller) Hay. The ninth child in the Hay family, John was lovingly raised by Annie (Hay) and her husband, Adam Murray of Lawrence. John was a 1948 graduate of Lawrence High School. In 1949 he joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a physician's assistant during the Korean conflict. John retired from New England Telephone after 30 years of service.
An active member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, he was the leader of Cub Scout Pack 2 for many years. He ran the commissary patrol at the annual Troop 2 Boy Scout Mountain Trip to the White Mountains for nearly 40 years.
Brother Hay was a Past Master of Grecian Lodge, Lawrence, a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Lawrence Eleventh Masonic District, a Past Master of the Nineteenth Lodge of Instruction, and a Past Sovereign Prince of Zion Council Princes of Jerusalem (1994-1995).
He is survived by his sister, Eleanor (Murray) West of Maryland and also by his four children, son, Stephen Hay and his wife, Nancy of Berwick, Maine; daughters, Susan and her husband, James W. Clarke of Windham, N.H., Cindy Hay of Pelham, her companion John Hanson of Merrimack, N.H., and Jennifer and her husband, David Matthews of Charleston, S.C; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral Service was held Monday, August 15, 2016 at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home Salem, N.H, and burial was at Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. Brother Michael Pappas, 32°
Michael Pappas (Pappadopoulos) passed away on June 2, 2016 at the Wingate Nursing facility in Andover. He was 88 years old.
Born in Lawrence on February 10, 1928, Mike was the only child of Peter and Mary Pappadopoulos who emigrated from Kalamata Greece in the early 1900s. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Springfield (CL-66) in the South Pacific where he developed a love for the ocean and sailing. He was married to Lena (Tarquinio) Pappas for 50 years until her passing in 2008. Mike, Lena and their family served in the Peace Corps (1970-72) where he helped bring electricity to remote areas of Ecuador, Brazil and Peru. Michael was an electrical engineering consultant focusing on industrial power distribution.
Mike was a member of the Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Andover. He was a Past Masterof Grecian Lodge, Lawrence and of Lawrence United Lodge, a member Pulpit Rock Lodge, Windham N.H., and a member of the Valley of the Merrimack and Aleppo Temple.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives, six grandchildren, his six grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Masonic memorial service was held at the Farrah Funeral Home, Lawrence, on June 6. The funeral service was held on June 7, at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Andover. Brother David Britt Trombly, 32°
Brother David Britt Trombly, 32°, who served as the first Sovereign Prince of Zion Council in the newly merged Valley of the Merrimack, died in Boston on November 4, 2015. Dave was born in Port Charles, N.Y. on October 21, 1928. He graduated from North Andover High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Navy in the following August. He was an air traffic controller at Millington Field Naval Air Station (Tennessee) before his honorable discharge in 1959. He remained active in the Naval Reserve and graduated from Merrimack College in 1963 with a B.S. in Economics. He was a member of Sigma Beta Kappa Fraternity. After a short time working for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Colorado where he met his wife Barbara, Dave worked with his father and brothers at Trombly Brothers, Inc. in North Andover until retirement.
In Freemasonry, Dave was a Past Master of St. Matthew's Lodge, Andover in 1995 -1996 and Past Sovereign Prince of Zion Council Princes of Jerusalem in 2003-2005. He belonged to St. Matthew's Lodge AF &AM, Merrimack Valley Lodge of Perfection, Zion Council, Mt. Barbara pre-deceased him. He leaves three children, eleven grandchildren, and two brothers and their families.
A Masonic Service was held on November 10. A funeral service was held the following day at Marsh Corner Community Church. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
